Typhoon Rolly Mission Response in Albay Province

On November 1, 2020, Super Typhoon Rolly, the world's most powerful tropical typhoon this year, struck the Philippines' largest island of Luzon. It affected hundred thousands of people most particularly in Bicol region, leaving more than 800,000 people in need of assistance. Meanwhile, volcanic mudflows from active Mt. Mayon buried at least 300 houses in surrounding communities of the volcano. The MSC Mission Office Philippines immediately organized a Call for Donations campaign to send aid support to our brothers and sisters who are greatly affected by Typhoon Rolly. We conducted a 15 Days Donation Countdown that started on November 3, 2020 until November 18, 2020. We were able to gather funds amounting Php321,721.20 from our generous friends and donors.

The Typhoon Rolly Mission Response team, our Mission Partners in Guinobatan, Albay, then started the purchasing and repacking of relief packs as soon as they received the funds. And on November 23, 2020, the team conducted the 1st batch of relief distribution in Brgy. San Francisco, Guinobatan, Albay. Then followed by 2nd batch which was conducted in Brgy. Pamasan, Guinobatan, Albay. The 3rd and 4th batches of relief was distributed in most affected communities in Tibiguian, Tabaco City and in Tiwi, Albay, respectively. The 5th batch was conducted in Bubulusan, Guinobatan, Albay. And finally, the last batch was of relief was distributed in greatly devastated community in Malilipot, Albay. The mission response program benefited more than 800 families in 6 communities (4 municipalities) in Albay province. The beneficiaries were so grateful for the support of the generous people had given to them.

We thank all the people who became part of this mission especially to all donors and volunteers. And to our mission partner, the Dominican Daughters of the Immaculate Mother (OP-DDIM) sisters, thank you for organizing and facilitating the relief distribution activity. In behalf of the MSC Mission Office and the beneficiaries, "Dios Mabalos sa Indo Gabos!"
